Message from HRH Prince Michael of Kent GCVO

The awards demonstrate just what a wide range of intiatives contribute to this important cause. They recognise the professional esteem in which the winners held. They recognize the professional esteem in which the winners are held. This aspect is what makes the awards unique and so highly regarded - the winners have been selected by other practicing professionals.

The reduction of child pedestrian casualities is a key area for all our work, but the true global significance of the importance of road safety especially in the area of child death and injury has yet to be embraced by governments in much of the developing world. These awards will do much to enforce the need for action

Although many of these awards are made to individuals, the key to real road safety success is teamwork; often these teams represt partnerships across some unusual disciplines, we must embrace the principle of partnership and think well beyond our normal limits to devise even clever ways of engaging key partners to deliver results.

I would also like to pay tribute to those who work for safer roads and those associated with the awards scheme itself who have done so much in this important field.

I offer my personal congratulations to all our winners.
