ITP’s FM Radio important step to educate citizens on traffic rules:Sumsam

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Syed Sumsam Ali Shah Bukhari on Wednesday said FM Radio by Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) is an important step to educating the citizens on traffic rules and regulations.The present PPP-led government gives priority to projects which are launched for welfare and betterment of public, he said while talking to journalists during his visit to ITP Office to personally examine the working of first ITP’s FM Radio.

He said Pakistan is passing through critical time of its history and added that terrorists and extremists, who were challenging the writ of the government would be flushed out.

He said conspiracies against Pakistan could not succeed due to national unity and bravery of our armed forces and added, “I salute the Pakistan Army, police and other law enforcement agencies who are fighting to eliminate terrorism and extremism.”

About the improvement in policing culture, he said through polite attitude and improved gestures, ITP has won the hearts of people.

Congratulating the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on the launch of first FM radio, the Minister said ITP had proved its worth as model police in the region and provided people better policing.

ITP was ISO Certified organization not only in Pakistan but in South Asian region.

Mr. Bukhari praised the performance of police and other law enforcement agencies saying that in a tensed atmosphere they had done an excellent work.

On the occasion, Assistant Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Bani Amin said FM Radio project was need of the hour as it would raise awareness among citizens about traffic rules.

He also highlighted the steps such as vigilance committees, 15 project etc. taken to facilitate the citizens and added that through this FM Radio Islamabad police would announce Safe Home projects.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), ITP, Dr Sultan Azam Temuri the broadcast will inform citizens about traffic flow in the city during rush hours and raise awareness among people about the importance of traffic discipline and traffic rules to ensure their safety on roads.

He said that citizens will greatly benefit from this service.  It would also help control road accidents and promote the concept of safe driving among people. The service will also ensure better transport facilities and smooth flow of traffic in the city.

The FM Radio 92.4 will be the sixth non-commercial radio permitted by the PEMRA. There are 10 FM Radio transmissions in Islamabad, out of which four are commercial and six non-commercial.
