Digitalizing the Road Safety Operations

Since the past few years, there has been a paradigm shift from the traditional operations being taken over by the digital arena. So, we at ArriveSAFE decided to take the plunge and ensure digitalization in the road safety operations in India.
In the first-of-its-kind initiative in the country, we helped to maintain a Traffic Offenders’ Data Management System for the Haryana police.
Keeping in view the surge in the number of vehicles on the roads, the traffic related offences have also increased by manifold. So, we realized the need for maintaining a state-wide data of traffic offences in order to study the offence trends and have an automated system for tracing the habitual traffic offenders and strengthen the road safety law enforcement.
The key features of this initiative are:
  • The simplified user interface helped to strengthen the citizen’s Right to Information as it allowed everyone to seek information based on their driving license number or the registration certificate for any past offences.
  • The digitalized record logging system made space for more security and transparency as it served as the one-stop destination for all activities.
  • The automated compounding fee system and subsequent recommendation for cancellation of Driving License worked as a strong deterrent for rash and negligent driving.
  • The system helped to improve the administrative efficiency with the clearly defined goals, timelines, and responsibilities.
  • The high quality and standardized data aided in decision making and planning.
  • The extensive reporting system worked as a powerful tool for the senior police management to study the ongoing trends and undertake appropriate enforcement drives.
We also contributed in the Human Resource Management System for the Haryana police, and the development and operations of the ‘online test for promotion’ software for Haryana and Himachal Police. This software helped to ensure utmost transparency, fairness and promptitude. Moreover, the digitalized operations also contributed towards saving the environment by going paperless.
In another landmark initiative, we developed a Web Based Road Management System [WBRMS] for Punjab Roads and Bridges Development Board, as part of a World Bank funded project. The system was developed to assist engineers, local authorities, pressure groups, and academic and research organizations that are continuously monitoring and trying to reduce the collisions on roads.
The Web Based Integrated Data Evaluation System on Accidents [IDEAS] worked as a useful tool for PRBDB, Punjab police, local authorities, pressure groups, academic and research organizations. The web-based reporting and analysis system helped to publish information based on the standard parameters to study and analyze the road crash trends. Thereby, providing a clear picture of the present scenario and highlight the required changes for ensuring safer roads.
