Internal Roads Witness Sharp Rise in Mishaps

NAGPUR: Internal city roads are witnessing increasing number of road accidents. City traffic police figures show a total of 1,265 road mishaps were reported in 2013 of which 827 accidents took place on internal roads. Overall in 2013 the number of road accidents too has increased in the city – 181 more mishaps than 1,084 recorded in 2012.

According to traffic police statistics, of the 1,265 road mishaps 298 were fatal and 409 serious. In 2013, the mishaps claimed 310 lives (255 men and 55 women) and 1,237 persons (including 990 male and 247 female) were injured. In 2012, the fatal accidents saw deaths of 270 persons and 973 persons were injured.
